Accessible Transport and Food Aid at the Heart of One Volunteer’s Mission

Henri is an active Malteser volunteer. He has been entrusted with driving the Order of Malta’s accessible minibuses, while also helping to coordinate ongoing projects and lending a hand at the Tallinn Food Bank and the Keskturg soup kitchen.
With a diverse professional background, Henri has worked in category and project management. He is also a co-founder of an educational and analytics platform.
At the same time, the Order of Malta is Henri’s first serious experience with volunteering and charity work. Previously, he had occasionally made financial donations and taken part in local community workdays, but these had been rather sporadic and informal.
"As I have always tried to help people in different ways, joining the Order gave me a good opportunity to do so in a more organized and meaningful manner," he explains when describing why he became a volunteer with the Order of Malta.
"Today, I mainly deal with managing the accessible minibuses donated from Germany and the projects connected to them. In addition, I contribute to the success of both internal events and public events. Whenever possible, I also try to help where it is most needed, whether by serving soup or assisting with Food Bank deliveries. Volunteering offers a wide and varied field of work—it never becomes boring," he says.
Henri enjoys spending his free time with family, friends, and members of his parish community. He belongs to the Tallinn St. Peter and St. Paul parish. He also trains actively and has recently taken up photography as a new hobby. With summer approaching, he hopes to spend more time in nature.
He explains his motivation through the words of the Apostle Paul: "You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love!" (Galatians 5:13).
"The work is not always easy, but it always brings great joy in return — both to those receiving help and to those giving it," he says.
