Let's Furnish the Activity Room of the Hiiumaa Social Centre Together!
Let's make a difference in the activity room of the Hiiumaa Social Work Centre in Kärdla! More than 30 adults rely on the centre for support in their daily lives, and they deserve a space that truly meets their needs.
To improve their environment, we urgently need donations of functional furniture and other essentials.
You can donate furniture, equipment or funds for their purchase and transportation.
The furniture does not need to be brand new, but it must be intact, durable, and the right size and purpose. Ideal cabinets and shelves are available from AJ products, but we have identified affordable alternatives from IKEA, which is widely used locally. In general, school, office, or children’s furniture is suitable. Consistency is important – white, light, or birch-tone furniture is preferred.

The Hiiumaa Social Work Center's activity room is located in Kärdla near Vabrikuväljak. From Monday to Friday, over 30 adults visit the center, all of whom require varying levels of support to navigate everyday life successfully. Upon arrival, they are greeted in the spacious foyer by the director, activity coordinator, or guidance staff. As the name suggests, various activities are organized to fill the day and develop different skills. Participants can engage in art, handicrafts, and music. Dance parties are also held. In the large kitchen-dining area, a warm lunch is served daily. The same space is used for work training, information sessions, and individual counseling. The activity room is also available for children with special needs when the center runs out of space.
Supported employment opportunities include cleaning the center and other manageable tasks. The center also provides laundry and shower facilities. In collaboration with a small business owner, beautiful gift bags are crafted. In the woodworking shop, participants make fire starters, juniper buttons, and other souvenirs.
This all sounds wonderful, and visiting the center offers a glimpse into its warm, caring, and vibrant atmosphere. Some rooms are modernly furnished, but to make better use of the space, ensure comfort for everyone, and cater to individual needs, NEW FUNCTIONAL FURNITURE and other furnishings are desperately needed. Please see for yourself: Visit the activity rooms.
We believe that by coming together, we can improve the working and activity conditions for the people at Estonia's smallest county social center. Let’s show that there are many caring people in Estonia and bring them new furniture for Christmas!
